Rational

The algorithm underlying the artwork The Position of a Line by the American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt has been re-executed here, but now in a three-dimensional floating virtual space seen from a very low point of view.
The position of lines is defined not only in code but also in language. Language is used here in a factual way, any meaning is avoided. This reflects the thinking of the German philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, who considered language as a flawed tool for our thinking. Much cannot be expressed in language. According to Wittgenstein, it is therefore better to limit the use of language to what it can express.
In this virtual space, the modernist tradition is continued in the era of Web3. Artworks are now virtual, spatial and computational. The latter refers to the machine-generated and temporary character of the contemporary art object. The artist reflects on reality in code.

Rational

This VR space shows a simplified 3D jet fighter in a half-open box. As the object is not fully visible, due to the viewpoint of the visitor, 2D projections of the object are drawn on the walls and floor of the box, defining the position of the object. In the souterrain a framed 2D representation of the jet fighters, a 'painting' is shown.
This artwork deals with the main paradigm in the history of painting: representing 3D immersive sceneries in the world around us in a 2D frame. In contrast with the common photorealistic visual language in computer games and metaverse platforms, this composition is purely abstract and not decorated.
